Before I had kids, I never lost a sock. I don't think I even ever lost a ball point pen. 3 kids later, this is what was left over after some routine laundry recently. You know, 6 or 7 loads.
People always say that the dryer eats socks, but it's really the washer. We had our washer stop working the other day, and the repair guy found a little toddler sock stuck in the motor. They're small enough to get underneath the agitator stem and get sucked into the drain. Do you have a top-loading or front-loading washer? I rarely lost socks with a front loader, but now I think it's easier to lose small socks with a top-loader...
I think I've got the matches to a couple of them here. My single sock drawer is growing...
